So Reader, the message you use to sell your offer is the biggest deciding factor in your sales success.
That stands true for both online and in-person businesses.
Trust me I know this because I've worked both door-to-door sales and also helped my clients make millions with online marketing in the last 7 years.
It's kind of like that saying about the tree cutting and axe.
Something like if you have 6 hours to cut a tree, spend 5 of those hours in sharpening your axe.
That’s exactly what refining your messaging is — sharpening your axe.
Especially if you're launching a new offer or hitting plateau with an existing one, you need to spend the majority of your time refining your message.
Then the remaining 10% — organic content, ads, videos, emails — will actually do the heavy lifting for you.
Now, there are a few non-negotiable rules for curating a message that sells without making you doubt your efforts or your business:
Rule #1: It should be crisp and clear. Even succinct, I’d say.
Rule # 2: It should immediately make your ideal client pay attention to your offer.
Rule #3: It should explain what you do, who it’s for, and why it matters.
These rules are simple yes but they're very difficult to curate in isolation.
I hate those exercises where you have to sit hours (or days) by yourself and imagine your ideal client and your messaging. I'm sorry to say but that's not going to make the cut.
Having spent years as a marketing and copywriting lead for successful entrepreneurs, I can tell you this:
​Trying to craft your messaging alone is one of the worst strategies.
You need to have more real conversations with people who resemble your potential or ideal clients, even a little.
Know their journey, their problems, what have they tried so far to solve those problems but are still disappointed, what are they still looking for etc.
This kind of conversation is NOT a random DM you send to people online.
It's about strategically and relationally building trust with people so that they share the real truth in their mind and heart.
I tell you Reader if you just speak with even 10 people who are aligned with your offer, in a thoughtful and connected way, your messaging will be unbeatable on any platform.
Your offers will bring in dream clients through ads, organic content, DMs, even in-person events where you don't even intend to sell!!
That's how magical messaging is in marketing. It's literally the root of successful marketing.
