Hi Reader,
If you've been reading my emails for a while now, you probably know I talk a lot about community building.
That’s because it’s one of my core values and one of the most heart-centered ways to create impact with your thought leadership.
Your community doesn't have to be huge — it could be just 10 people to begin with but it matters so much more than 10k casual followers.
Now, community is very different from followers.
When I say community, I mean the people who gather with you (in-person or online) around a shared cause or message.
No one is simply “following” one person but everyone is united by a shared experience.
This shows that your message and experiences matter to people out there.
And community is a powerful fuel for bringing massive change (even if it's just 5 or 10 people).
All of the biggest movements and legacies in the world started with tiny communities.
A bunch of people coming together to share their stories, their messages, experiences or simply to connect with like-minded souls. There's just something special about it.
In my opinion, every thought leader, educator and coach should invest in building a community.
But if you're wondering where to begin, here's my advice for you:
Start with a challenge you've already overcome in your life or business.
Or start with a topic you've mastered (even if you know you might expand beyond it later).
I'll explain with a couple of examples.
1. A digital marketer who built a business after addiction recovery (it could also be weight loss, anxiety, immigration, debt recovery, etc.). It doesn’t have to be directly related to your niche (that’s the beauty of it). Or it could be something you’re actively managing, like chronic illness, single parenting, or juggling a 9–5 with a side hustle.
2. A manifestation coach who hasn't made millions yet nor has manifested their dream partner but has manifested other things: healing a health challenge, landing a job, finding inspiration, calling in friends, or attracting a mentor. You don’t need to be “fully accomplished” to start.
Basically, you don’t need massive success to build a community or to be a thought leader.
You’ve lived a life full of experiences, you’ve overcome challenges, and you’re probably managing some right now. Start there.
Pick the ones you feel comfortable sharing (not the ones you're still healing or could easily get triggered by).
Then gradually expand or not if you don't want to.
So this was it for DAY 4 of 30 days simplified marketing sprint.
Are you planning to start building your community of dream clients and collaborators or do you already have one?
Could you reply to this email and let me know?
With love,
Devika
